New Hat & cabinets for Hunting Cabin

One of our great pleasures is going to the "Hunting Cabin" near Tonasket, WA. It is completely primative without running water, lights, or bathroom facilities -- we get to "rough it" for a few days. On one of Neil's last visits, he noticed that the roof was leaking in a couple of places. Our good friends, Ken & Marian Russ, went up to the cabin with us to help repair the roof and raise the ceiling (if you were more than 6' you had to duck to walk through the cabin). Marian & I were chief cook & bottle washers (and we did lots of supervising, too).

We will be using it early next year to go snowmobiling! It will be so much nicer with these improvements.

Neil decided to build new cabinets for the cabin so we could have better storage of dishes, pots & pans, food, etc., and also have room to do the dishes, and prepare food. These are the cabinets he made. Originally there was no cabinet back in the corner, so this is going to be so nice to have more room.

Storage cabinet & a tall pantry (for storing dishes & food). Neil used old cabinet doors we had to make it look like the old ones did.

Neil made a cabinet for under one of the beds to store sleeping bags, etc.

Tearing off the old metal roof and boards
Gary Anderson, owner of the cabin brought up a crew of 4 men to help Neil & Ken with the replacement of the roof. Gary is the gentlemen in the middle in the blue chambray shirt.
A very dirty job! Ken is inside the cabin tearing out the stove pipe & insulation. They removed the "trash burner", and then moved the stove so there would be more room for a cabinet near the sink. As it was, there was no room to do dishes. It was very inconvenient.
